Slow posting - sorry !

very busy here - sorry for slow posting.

Some interesting things - just to touch shortly:

No news about Ai Wei Wei whereabouts.

Hong Kong will protect against mainland woman want to give birth here & crack down on so-called agents doing the business with whatever kind of fake dates etc. But private hospitals are still sacking in. The more the restrictions on the public hospitals the better the business for the private ones. Do not forget ASIAS WORLD CITY is the most greediest in the world !

Property prices still rising like crazy - same flat 14 month ago offered to me at HKD 5.1 Mio is now on the market foe HKD 7.2 Mio - is this luxury housing ? No ! If the neighbour takes his shower or the guy upstairs you can still hear that rushing sound - so this is worth HKD 7.2 Mio - llets have some serious doubts on this.

TRICKY TRICKY - THE MAGIC FABRIC ROLL

Above you see the "magic fabric roll: Weight is 3 kg (150 cm long) with some smart layers of concrete in it. Normally these kind of rolls a rather weak in China and have a max. weight of 0.5 kg. As the fabric of this roll(s) was a quite expensive lace RMB 60 / per kg so each roll added another 2.5 kg to the costs. 10 rolls - 100 rolls - 300 rolls - GOOD BUSINESS - lousy cheating. Even you find it out afterwards - getting back the money from the supplier is in China almost "mission impossible". They dont care if 1st business was last business - you just imagine their profit they made if you have bought 500 rolls of this lace !

Is it fake - I guess yes

see the video of a real lovely Shanghai Lady in a piano shop. She puts her bag somewhere - the staff asked her to take it away - she starts argueing not touch my bag - the manager comes - she throws her credit card at them telling them how much money she has - price of the piano is 1.06 Mio RMB - ooops she is asking for cheaper models - then she suddenly sees the papparazzi - I guess it is made but anyhow it is fun to see - enjoy:

SALT ! SALT ! SALT !

Hey guys are you really that stupid ? All supermarket shelves in Hong Kong, Macao & China have been completely SOLD OUT of Salt. Prices for SALT are now double or triple .......Please be aware one fact: If ever there will be a nuclear cloud from Japan - every 5 kilometers this content of this cloud will be diluted 30,000 times - so from Fukushima to Hong Kong is approximately 3,000 (threethousand) kilometers - so make the maths yourself. Much more polluting are all this trucks & taxis & private cars standing in a queue in this really not hot weather and the engine running all the time.......Most of the SALT is NOT coming from the SEA it is coming from SALT MINES and the amount of iodine is very little - you need to eat a lot and then it is not healthy at all & will not protect you against radiation (which will anyhow not come to Hong Kong).

THE EARTHQUAKE

Everybody knows it already: The terrible earthquake on Friday in Japan & then the tsunami. And now the problems in the nuclear power plant. I dont know what to say - so sorry for all the lost lives & all the people now in such a terrible trouble ! See the video here to get some idea of the terrible power of the tsunami. Just now the info is coming through that suddenly a volcano starts getting crazy in Japan.

Hong Kong Budget 2011 - 12

Today we had our budget speech here in Hong Kong for 2011 - 2012. Financial secretary delivered some good & some bad news. One main problem as the property market the government has no ideas - or does not want to have some ideas. No direct measurements to cool down the secondary property market - the supply of more land for tender does not tackle the problem of sky-high property prices for buying & renting in the secondary market. The problem is the in-flow of hot money which is invested in the property market and is driving the prices crazy high as they are now. 298 becomes 880 in Nathan Road Electronic Shop

Today in a mood walking Nathan Road suddenly had the idea that I need the photo connection kit for my Ipad. Apple price is HKD 298 - same is the price at Fortress (but out of stock). Went into some of the electronic / photo shops there in Nathan Road (everybody should know: Prices are always too high - the staff is sales genius - esp. for foreigners).
I say: Do you have Ipad photo adaptor ? Seller says: Yessssssss we have !
I say: I mean original APPLE .........Seller says: Yeeeeeees we have !
I say: How much ? Seller says: HKD 880 .......(lucky number or what ? quite a big difference compared with the original price of HKD 298 exactly HKD 582 more ...)
I say: Ohhh thats very expensive .....Seller says: Yeah but is is original APPLE
I say: Sorry I dont want it. Seller says: Okay HKD 500
I say: I need to check other stores first, your price is too high...
Seller says: Okay HKD 400 (still HKD 102 overpriced compared with APPLE price).
I say: I still have to think about it.
Seller says: You are really like a mainland chinese !
Finally I did not buy it as I was very sure that only HKD 298 is the correct price.
I do not want to further comment on this - make up your own
decision what kind of sales practice this is.
Is this exactly the HK Tourism Council want to
have and be proud to call Hong Kong the "shopping paradise"?
Update: The original APPLE price is HKD 228 - not 298 ! And I bought it a few days ago in a FORTRESS. Besides this the connector also supports any kind of MIDI to control your IPad (for example music apps - you just connect your MIDI keyboard through it......and then control the app via your keyboard).
