DEAR READERS

More than 4 years I have started this blog. Now I have passed the mark of 50,000 reads + almost 80,000 page views. Thank you very much for your support. The initial reason was the troubles of getting CHINA VISA before & during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. This problem had eased in October 2008 at least partly. Now that blog focus more on other things related to HK & China. I want to keep that blog alive as it gave me a lot of joy in posting etc etc. Thanks for you following this blog.

English translation of Günter Grass’ poem on Israeli threat

Recently the german writer Guenter Grass has written a poem. In this poem he openly criticises Israel ! Now Israel has banned him from entering Israel. Many famous jewish people & all kind of jewish organisations heavily complained about that poem & surely complained & blamed Mr. Grass in being very wrong etc. So first lesson we have to learn here: Do not complain about Israel or the jewish state or jewish people - you will be damned forever. Honestly speaking I have the feeling that with this kind of attitude something is very, very wrong nowadays. I do not want to comment further - but it is a SCANDAL ! The Scandal is not the poem of Mr. Grass - the Scandal is the world-wide reaction on it. Here the poem first translated into english & then the original version.
This is from here !

Here is an English translation of a poetic protest by Nobel Prize laureate Günter Grass, against the prospect of the Israeli extermination (“auslöschen”) of the Iranian people. The original poem as he wrote it in German, follows this English rendering.
What Must Be Said
By Günter Grass, April, 2012

Why do I stay silent, conceal for too long
What clearly is and has been
Practiced in war games, at the end of which we as survivors
Are at best footnotes.

It is the alleged right to first strike
That could annihilate the Iranian people--
Enslaved by a loud-mouth
And guided to organized jubilation--
Because in their territory,
It is suspected, an atom bomb is being built.

Yet why do I forbid myself
To name that other country
In which, for years, even if secretly,
There has been a growing nuclear potential at hand
But beyond control, because no testing is available?

The universal concealment of these facts,
To which my silence subordinated itself,
I sense as incriminating lies
And force--the punishment is promised
As soon as it is ignored;
The verdict of "anti-Semitism" is familiar.

Now, though, because in my country
Which from time to time has sought and confronted
The very crime
That is without compare
In turn on a purely commercial basis, if also
With nimble lips calling it a reparation, declares
A further U-boat should be delivered to Israel,
Whose specialty consists of guiding all-destroying warheads to where the existence
Of a single atomic bomb is unproven,
But through fear of what may be conclusive,
I say what must be said.

Why though have I stayed silent until now?
Because I think my origin,
Which has never been affected by this obliterating flaw,
Forbids this fact to be expected as pronounced truth
Of the country of Israel, to which I am bound
And wish to stay bound.

Why do I say only now,
Aged and with my last ink,
That the nuclear power of Israel endangers
The already fragile world peace?
Because it must be said
What even tomorrow may be too late to say;
Also because we--as Germans burdened enough--
Could be the suppliers to a crime
That is foreseeable, wherefore our complicity
Could not be redeemed through any of the usual excuses.

And granted: I am silent no longer
Because I am tired of the hypocrisy
Of the West; in addition to which it is to be hoped
That this will free many from silence,
Prompt the perpetrator of the recognized danger
To renounce violence and
Likewise insist
That an unhindered and permanent control
Of the Israeli nuclear potential
And the Iranian nuclear sites
Be authorized through an international agency
Of the governments of both countries.

Only this way are all, the Israelis and Palestinians,
Even more, all people, that in this
Region occupied by mania
Live cheek by jowl among enemies,
In the end also to help us.

Translated by Heather Horn, who writes: "What Must Be Said,' is ...not exactly the prettiest prose in its original German, and the English doesn't read much better....I've tried to untangle some of the needlessly Teutonic constructions where it doesn't undo the deliberately winding and parenthetical tone too much. Even more concise German can sound circuitous to an English ear, but Grass's writing here is an extreme example..."

Was gesagt werden muss

sobald er mißachtet wird;

und bleiben will, zuzumuten.

Warum sage ich jetzt erst,

gealtert und mit letzter Tinte:

Die Atommacht Israel gefährdet

den ohnehin brüchigen Weltfrieden?

Weil gesagt werden muß,

was schon morgen zu spät sein könnte;

auch weil wir - als Deutsche belastet genug -

Zulieferer eines Verbrechens werden könnten,

das voraussehbar ist, weshalb unsere Mitschuld

durch keine der üblichen Ausreden

zu tilgen wäre.

Und zugegeben: ich schweige nicht mehr,

weil ich der Heuchelei des Westens

überdrüssig bin; zudem ist zu hoffen,

es mögen sich viele vom Schweigen befreien,

den Verursacher der erkennbaren Gefahr

zum Verzicht auf Gewalt auffordern und

gleichfalls darauf bestehen,

vom Wahn okkupierten Region

dicht bei dicht verfeindet leben

und letztlich auch uns zu helfen.

Charles Manson & some feature here...........

It is already a long time ago that some members of the so-called FAMILY murdered 7 people within 2 nights Los Angeles in August 1969 - almost 43 years exactly. Despite the fact that this was cruel murder & surely must be punished for what it is, there are still many obstacles about the case esp the first case involving Sharon Tate & some other prominent victims. The real truth will never come out. All of the murderers + Charles Manson are still in jail & all have been denied parole whenever they had the chance to apply (Susan Atkins died already 24.09.2009 in prison). See here some facts about that case:
Wikipedia about Manson
Ed Sanders THE FAMILY - a book very worth reading !
Some "fanpage" from former Family members
Some other links directly connected to Manson
If you are surfing more you can / will find much more stuff about that whole story. Interesting is one thing: Clearly it was brutal murder in all cases - but it seems there are some secrets behind that whole stories to keep that alive that long & to not even any of the ones involved granting parole. All the found guilty Family members are the longest imprisoned people in the USA...............
Here some (not very fresh - some 12 - 15 years old) but worth seeing it features about the whole story:
video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

On April 11, 2012 Manson will have his next parole hearing - be assured it will be denied. This man is still very dangerous - better keep him locked up. Honestly speaking Krenwinkel, van Houten & Watson should be granted parole now - they are not dangerous at all. They just have been victims also.............
So this has very little to do with China - yes, yes yes......It is about deepest SUBCULTURE in the most worst way......something China's powerful hope never can develop in the mainland........but maybe in some certain (different) aspects some unhealty "SUBCULTURE" is already existing in China:
The culture of endless GREED, JEALOUSY & ENVY - the culture of cheating & bribing - the culture of corruption starting from very small to super big.........and with that individuals like Manson in a chinese version - not a long way......Cheers & Happy Easter ! video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player
This one is some latest feature out of the prison - somewhat last year 2011.

As reported before there will be a scheme allowing mainland drivers to cruise into Hong Kong with their cars very soon. Almost everybody here in Hong Kong has some "objections"against this scheme because generally chinese driving is nuts, reckless & super dangerous. See a clip here from our good friend Kim Dotcom - this are good drivers, but dont show this to any mainlander - we must be afraid they try to COPY that. Enjoy that drive here:
And just as we all like the speed & nice cars here another one for you to enjoy:

What to Do If Your Blog Goes Viral: 10 Tips
BirdAbroad | August 20, 2011 at 2:26 pm | Tags: Fake Apple Stores, Seriously?!, Work | Categories: Uncategorized | URL: http://wp.me/ppKGm-hV
When my blog went viral because of the fake Apple store post, I was totally caught off guard and made a lot of mistakes. I know it's all very exciting when this happens and people start contacting you from all over the world, but it pays in the long run to be hardheaded about this in advance. Below are a few pieces of friendly advice based on my experience, in case going viral ever happens to you.
Please add your own tips on this in the comments section!
1.Recognize what's coming. Have 1,000 people visited your blog in the past hour, when previously only 10 people came in a day? Is your content being rapidly Tweeted? Welcome to the land of the viral internet! Prepare to take action.
2.Decide what you want out of this experience. Are you looking to become famous on the internet? A full-time blogger? The next Paris Hilton? Or are you looking to maintain your privacy and your regular life? This will inform how and where you allow your content to be distributed.
3.Consider buying the domain name of your blog address (e.g. for myblog.wordpress.com, buy myblog.com).
4.Consider putting up ads on your blog. You may find this tacky, but when you realize that your content is spreading all over the internet and lots of people are making money off of it, you may feel differently.
5.Make sure you have a copyright notice prominently displayed. Decide on a policy of how your content can be used by different media outlets (e.g. blogs, print media, television). Be aware that US law does not recognize the "moral right of attribution" - that is, just because you ask to be publicly credited when you give permission for your content to be reproduced elsewhere, doesn't mean the outlet has to credit you. You having given permission for use of your content is enough for them to run it.
6.Consider watermarking all of your photos, or disabling the ability of others to download/right-click your content if you want to maintain strict control (this may or may not be easily done, depending on who is hosting your blog).
7.Realize that your content may have considerable financial value - don't just give it away to people who are going to be making money from it. (Remember: multibillion-dollar media conglomerates are not your friends.) In particular, demand in advance that you be remunerated for any use of your content in print or on TV. Technically, there's no difference in terms of copyright violation online/on TV/in print if your content is used without your permission, but there's something particularly galling about not being paid for your content to be used in print or on TV by someone else. May them pay up.
8.If you give permission for your content to be reproduced, do so in a limited way - BE EXPLICIT. For example: "Yes, you have the right to use this one particular photo for this one particular article, and nowhere else. You may not archive my content for future use."
9.Do not ever give permission for your photos to be freely used by a major warehouse of photos like Agence France-Presse (AFP), Getty Images, or the Associated Press (AP). These places have tens of thousands of clients, who will be buying your photos from them, without any financial gain for you. Your photos will be reproduced by numerous outlets credited only AFP/Getty/AP, without crediting you. AFP/Getty/AP will claim that they have no control over this - while this may be true, it will not help ease your feeling that very bad things should happen to these people. Giving your photos to one of these agencies will mark the end of your control over your photos - BEWARE.
10.Do not be impressed or intimidated by your unauthorized content showing up in prominent places - get on the phone or send them an email and make sure they remove your content or pay your for it - or both. The following outlets are among the numerous places that abused the content of this blog: NYTimes.com, CBS News, New York Post, The Independent (UK), Le Figaro (France), and USA Today. I AM NOT IMPRESSED.
Anyone got anything else to add?

CHINA STATISTICS FROM THE ECONOMIST

Please read yourself - this is from the ECONOMIST

Comparing Chinese provinces with countries

All the parities in China

Which countries match the GDP, population and exports of Chinese provinces?

China is now the world’s second-biggest economy, but some of its provinces by themselves would rank fairly high in the global league. Our map shows the nearest equivalent country. For example, Guangdong's GDP (at market exchange rates) is almost as big as Indonesia's; the output of both Jiangsu and Shandong exceeds Switzerland’s. Some provinces may exaggerate their output: the sum of their reported GDPs is 10% higher than the national total. But over time the latter has consistently been revised up, suggesting that any overstatement is modest.
What about other economic yardsticks? Guangdong exports as much as South Korea, Jiangsu as much as Taiwan. Shanghai’s GDP per person is as high as Saudi Arabia’s (at purchasing-power parity), though still well below that in China’s special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau. At the other extreme, the poorest province, Guizhou, has an income per head close to that of India. Note that these figures use the same PPP conversion rate for the whole of China, but prices are likely to be lower in poorer provinces than in richer ones, slightly reducing regional inequality.
Correction, February 25th: The original figure given for Hong Kong's exports included re-exports. This has been changed to refer to domestic exports only.
