Hope as many people can see this - esp on the MAINLAND - enjoy some Bob Dylan here (including 2x Hendrix version of "All along the Watchtower" - I am afraid Hendrix also would have been banned to perform in China. Millions of Bob Dylan Fans feelings are hurt by the decision of the China Government (isn't this the standard reply of China officials .......?):

BOB DYLAN IS NOT WELCOME IN CHINA !
What a shame - the so-called CULTURAL department decided not Mr Bob Dylan have the 2 concerts in China. How dangerous it seems Bob Dylan is ? Like this you can never be GREAT. Upfront the WORLD EXPO in Shanghai - your cadres are doing something like this ? What is your WORLD you have in mind ?

How to boost China's domestic consumption ?
Very easy, according to a clip in SCMP today:

Mr. Li, former National Audit Office administrator, said there were two effective ways to expand consumption: increasing the income of people in the low and medium-earning bracket, and encouraging rich people to spend. He said it was important the wealthy expanded their consumption."

It is most likely NOT to believe that any of the greedy & thrifty chinese company owners will increase the income of their staff - it will be rather the other way around - or just fire the staff.
About buying private planes & yachts ? Very good idea ! So how will this boost the domestic consumption ? Or was this just a joke ?
Most likely it seems some of the "important advisers" in the mainland government still do not know what extreme problems the chinese (normal) people will have to face because of the world wide slow - down.
Cheers...and lets hope some guys will buy some private planes...........

“Working for the Olympics as an IT contractor, I recently moved to the Media Village (where all of the reporters live) and was surprised the there was no free internet. BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games) is charging a ridiculous amount of money for ADSL service: for
512/512 it costs 7712.5 RMB (1,131.20 USD);
1M/512 it costs 9156.25 (1,342.95 USD);
2M/512 it costs a whopping 11,700 RMB (1,716.05 USD).
That is for only one month! For extra features like a fixed IP? That costs an additional 450 RMB (66 USD). I just can’t believe that not only do I have to deal with the Great Firewall of China, but also pay through the nose to use it!”

"Wouldn’t it be cheaper to use an internet cafe at that point? Hell, my crappy China Telecom connection is about 700RMB for six months. Nice to see China still enjoys ripping off visitors at every turn. "

"It's not so tight as we thought," Wei said. "One who holds a legitimate purpose to come to China can get a visa conveniently." Faced with terrorist threats, the government views security during the Games as a top priority."
Mr. Wei Wei is the Director General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry - and he is saying: "It is not so tight as we thought" - he is talking about their own "CHINA VISA REGULATIONS" - is he lost in translation or did he apply himself a "China Visa" recently to give this kind of statement.
