They did the same to me on the two visits I made recently. in the past, they used to peel back the plastic covering the photo and made it worse. i took it back to my consulate and complained about this. my government, being subserviant, simply relaminated the damaged page and cover. i asked for a replacement due to poor quality. they didn't offer one. i asked to lodge a complaint against the chinese authorities. they didn't accept it.

i am still waiting for my apec card to come through...

Hi Visa Man,

Just out of curiosity, how did they exactly do to check your passport seams? I remember you mentioned they counted your entry and exit chops last time. Is your passport looks a bit old?

They were looking very closely and then tearing on the pages and then using a magnifier to look at the seams ..........I mean somewhat this made me feel like a thief or criminal...surely with almost 75 entry/exit chops it looks old - right ?

to anon 1:
Yes the APEC card also running the application - but it seems CHINA is very slowly in giving the approvals.....actually I guess they are not really following APEC commitments or agreements with this "delayed" approvals. My last up-date was on 22nd - almost having all countries. Funnily PERU declined - but I have no intention to go to PERU anyhow. The ones we will never get is USA, RUSSIA + CANADA ...I dont know why they are even in the scheme .....if they are behaving like this.

I went to the consulate thing at CRC building on Thursday and now offering 3 year multi to HK PR ID card holders (at f' last). Cost about HK$1300 for 4 day service. I'm not paying a rush fee after the f' tens of thousands of dollars lost to this fiasco.

Just make sure you ask for 'tourist' visa.

Going into China recently they've taken a lot of notice of the chops and dates - this can take them a few minutes as of course they never chop an exit chop anywhere near the most recent entry chop do they....?

That $1300 fee must be for the poms. Other nationals get a better rate, right?
